About Your Instructor

Dr. Sophia Veiras

PT, DPT, BRM

Hi, I’m Sophia, the creator of Programming Principles: Navigating from Pain to Peak Performance. Early in my career, I noticed that while many professionals could coach exercises well, few had a clear framework for how to progress them over time, especially when pain, fatigue, or performance plateaus showed up. That realization inspired this course.

Whether you’re helping someone rebuild after an injury or striving for new strength goals, effective programming takes more than just sets and reps. It’s about understanding the principles that drive adaptation, knowing when to push, and when to pull back.

This course provides a structured, evidence-based approach to program design that bridges rehab and performance. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to adjust load, volume, and frequency to help your clients move, lift, and perform at their best.

Module Overviews

Module 1 (48min)

Introduction to Programming Principles

Every great strength program starts with solid principles. In this module, you’ll unpack the science behind stress, adaptation, and recovery and see how to translate those concepts into smarter, more effective training. You’ll finish with a proven framework to help clients build resilience, overcome setbacks, and make meaningful progress.

Module 2 (1hr 22min)

Programming Variables

Discover the key training variables that drive progress, including volume, intensity, frequency, rest, and exercise selection. This module explains how to adjust each one to create specific adaptations, manage fatigue, and help clients continue progressing over the long term. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to manipulate these variables to design smarter, more effective programs for any goal.

Module 3 (1hr 9min)

Planning and Periodization

Learn how to move beyond single training variables and build long-term structure into your programs. This module breaks down different models of periodization, including linear, undulating, and block, and explains how to apply each across various training goals. You’ll also explore week-to-week progression strategies that show you how to adjust load, volume, and complexity within a block to keep clients progressing over time.

Pain and Programming Foundations

Learn how to adjust training when clients are dealing with pain or movement limitations. This module introduces our 4-Step Framework for Training with Pain, a practical system for modifying load, volume, and exercise selection based on client feedback and tolerance. You’ll also explore movement pattern continuums for the squat, press, pull, and deadlift, with clear strategies to scale movements while keeping clients confident, consistent, and progressing.

Module 5 (2hr 28min)

Case Studies and Applied Programming

Bring it all together with real-world examples. You’ll explore sample training days, weeks, and full blocks to see how programming decisions play out over time. Using detailed case studies on muscle strains, tendinopathies, and low back tweaks, you’ll learn how to modify and progress programs to help clients rebuild strength and confidence.

Peak Performance

Take your clients from strong to their strongest. This final module shows you how to apply advanced programming concepts to maximize strength, power, and performance. You’ll learn about tapering, load cycling, and performance-focused training blocks, as well as practical strategies for delivering programs digitally and putting it all into action.
