Scott Murison, BComm, CSCS, BRM
My philosophy is built on a simple idea: the years after 40 are not a time to yield to age, but to actively challenge its limitations. After a 35-year career as co-founder of Wild Rock Outfitters, I shifted my focus to a lifelong passion for vitality, becoming an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). My coaching is designed to help you not just get fit, but to proactively write your own health story.
**Who I Work With**
I achieve the best results with individuals who are ready for a structured, yet flexible partnership. My approach is a unique fit for you if you see yourself in one of these categories:
- The Athlete Juggling Life: You're still chasing personal records, but now you must balance athletic goals with career and family. I help you integrate high-level training efficiently and sustainably.
- The Committed Individual: You may have never been an "athlete," but you are dedicated, can commit to 3+ hours per week, and are curious about how optimizing exercise, nutrition, and sleep can transform how you feel.
- The Ageing Active Person: You love being active and want to keep it that way. You're looking for an expert to refine your habits, ensuring you can continue to thrive in your adventures for decades to come.
**A Focus on Medical Wellness**
My coaching extends beyond the gym to directly support critical health goals. If you are working with a doctor to manage specific conditions, I am motivated to research and create safe, complementary programs using targeted exercise and nutritional strategies. I specialize in supporting clients with issues in these areas as exercise, nutrition and sleep are proven to help:
- Atherosclerotic Health (managing high blood pressure & high cholesterol)
- Metabolic Health (managing and preventing Type 2 Diabetes)
- Bone Health (preventing or slowing Osteopenia)
**My Four-Pillar Approach**
I design balanced, effective, and safe programs built on three core components to help you thrive:
- Strength Training
- Aerobic Conditioning
- Balance and Stability
- Nutritional and Lifestyle Guidance
My diverse background in mountaineering, triathlons, running, motocross, enduro and cycling, fused with my formal CSCS education, allows me to craft plans that are highly effective while minimizing injury risk. It starts with a thorough assessment to build a strategy that fits your life.
**My Credential: What is a CSCS?**
An NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) is an evidence-based practitioner with a university degree, requiring advanced knowledge in exercise science and nutrition. This distinguishes me from a general personal trainer and means I am uniquely qualified to design programs that are both effective and safe, especially for those with health considerations.
